Team Fundraising Policy
Applicability
This policy applies to all Nepean Ringette Association teams.
Policy
Unless otherwise noted in this policy, NRA teams are free to undertake any lawful fundraising activity that is agreed upon by the team members. Any activities requiring a government issued license (including ANY raffles or similar) shall only be undertaken if a suitable license has been obtained and if conducted in strict accordance with the terms of that license.
NRA teams conducting fundraising activities on private property such as retail stores or other businesses shall obtain permission from the owner/operator of the business. Teams conducting fundraising activities at events such as tournaments are expected to obtain permission from the organizers of the event.
Each team conducting a fundraising activity shall include the date, location, nature of the activity and amount of funds raised in their team financial report, which must be submitted to the NRA Secretary at the end of each season.
Notes
As of the date of approval, the Nepean Ringette Association does not have a municipal lottery license and has no plans to obtain one in the foreseeable future. For all practical purposes, this means that our teams cannot hold any sort of raffle as the City of Ottawa does not appear to be willing to issue lottery licenses to individual teams.
Approval
This policy was approved by the Nepean Ringette Executive at a regular meeting on 07-Jun-2011.
